Summary (plain language)
Dustly is a macOS cleaning utility that runs entirely on your Mac. We do not run analytics, we do not track you, and your files, their contents, and your scan results never leave your device. The app makes only two kinds of outbound network requests, both described below: a one-time license activation, and periodic update checks.
1. What the app does with your data
All scanning, disk analysis, duplicate detection, and cleanup happen locally on your Mac. When you delete something, it is moved to the macOS Trash (recoverable) — the app never uploads, transmits, or copies your files or file listings anywhere.
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- the contents of your files;
- lists, names, or paths of the files you scan or clean;
- your system statistics, disk usage, or hardware details;
- any advertising or behavioral-analytics identifiers.
2. The only data that leaves your Mac
### a) License activation (one time)
When you activate a purchased license, the app sends your license key and a device identifier (a machine name/fingerprint used to count activations) to our licensing provider, Lemon Squeezy, to validate the key and register this device. ### b) Update checks
The app periodically checks for new versions by requesting a small update manifest from our update server (hosted on our provider, Vercel). As with any web request, the server may process your IP address and a version/OS string in its standard logs. No account, file, or personal data is sent. These update checks happen automatically while the app runs.
3. Purchase data (handled by Lemon Squeezy)
We sell Dustly through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record. When you buy, Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your name, email, billing details, and payment information under their privacy policy and terms — we never see or store your full payment details. We receive from them only what is needed to fulfil and support your order (e.g. your email and license/order reference).

4. Support communications
If you email support@dustly.app for support, we process the information you choose to send us (your message, email address, and any diagnostics you attach) solely to help you. We do not use it for marketing.
5. Data retention
We keep license/order records for as long as needed to provide the license, comply with tax/accounting obligations, and handle support and refunds. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under the EU/UK GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise them, email support@dustly.app. For purchase data held by Lemon Squeezy, you may also contact them directly.
7. Children
Dustly is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; the "Effective date" above will change and, for material changes, we will note it on https://dustly.app.
